Lookouts, short walks, lakes, hiking, cycling, skiing and cultural sites require different access points. Do not choose a trail only from a photograph.

The National Capital Commission may use shuttles, seasonal road rules, parking controls or closures. Fall weekends can be especially busy.

Review distance, elevation, surface, washrooms and accessibility. Weather can change trail conditions quickly.
Combine carefully
A park outing can fill most of a day. Pair it with a simple meal or one nearby stop rather than a tightly timed downtown museum reservation.
